10am to 4pm
The event is a cycle challenge and participation event to encouraging everyone to get on their bikes and do a ride. We are planning to have a range of adapted cycles available on the day for people to try. If you haven’t seen them already, there are several fleets of these cycles available in Hampshire at Alice Holt, Pavilion on the Park in Eastleigh, Queen Elizabeth Country park and in the New Forest. They are great because most people can be accommodated in some way to enable them to participate in the cycling experience. Quest 88 will also be there with a range of bikes and also All Aboard Bikes from RVCP.
Anyone who takes part will be able to register in advance at http://www.myjourneyhampshire.com/ and receive a free goody bag which will include a T shirt and other gifts. All registration profits will go to charity and are very low.
PS this event takes place on the last day of the Paralympics and the closing ceremony will be televised on the big screen by the cathedral - a great place to go once people have sorted out their picnic (maybe buying it from the farmers market…) and the weather looks fabulous! A really good day out!

They are running Explorers Day Camps over the next 4 weeks with lots of activities to choose from including climbing, archery, orienteering, canoeing, tunnelling and zipwire. All abilities catered for and only £15/day for Hampshire residents, siblings welcome too. My 13yr old son with severe athetoid cerebral palsy went yesterday with his little brother and had an amazing time! Now that he is small adult size it is difficult to get him out of his wheelchair and being active so he was absolutely delighted to be able to go to the top of the climbing wall (twice!) with lovely Kerry the instructor – just look at his face! All the staff were fantastic and had a lot of experience, I can’t recommend it enough! The camps are getting pretty full but as of yesterday they still had a few spaces left for Wed 1st Aug, Mon 6th, Tues 7th, Wed 8th, Mon 13th, Tues 14th, Wed 15th, and all week 20th – 23rd. If you would like to go as a family they have 5 spaces left for the Friday family activity days on 5th August (on the water) and 24th August (multi-activity).
They are also running a Paralympic Light a Lantern Festival on 28th August with loads of activities on offer. To find out more or book online please go to http://www.qe2activitycentre.co.uk or phone Phil Oates on 023 8040 4844.
